BUDGETING, EXPLORE MONCTON

How To Have Fun Without Spending Any Money

One of my favourite sayings is: “The best things in life are always free.”

I honestly believe that to be true, in more ways than one. I know that a lot of people will immediately think of spending time with loved ones, making memories together, laughing – experiences. You can’t put a price on that, and it has no cost. But I also believe that “the best things in life are free” can apply to actual objects and activities as well. For example, my all time favourite dress is one that my mom lets me borrow. It would be a sentimental thing, but it also makes me feel good to have something nice to wear without having to break the bank. Another great example is a good home cooked meal. They say that food tastes better when you don’t have to cook it yourself, but I think it tastes the best when there’s no cost attached to it.

If you haven’t read our previous blog posts, you might not be aware that we are currently doing a No Spending Month challenge, so I thought it would be a great idea to share with you some of the activities we love doing that are absolutely free.

Free Activities:

  • Bake cookies together – It’s delicious, and it’s fun!
  • Go to the library
  • Read books, either from the library or your unread bookshelf!
  • Planning trips!
  • Catching up on Netflix or Podcasts
  • Do some painting – I am legit doing a lot of painting right now; stay tuned to learn why!
  • Go for a walk – We love going to Centennial Park because it’s not too far from our house
  • Have friends over for tea – Way cheaper than going out to a coffee shop and you can cuddle up in a blanket instead of wrapped in three layers of sweaters and jackets and scarves
  • Go watch the Tidal Bore – We actually did this on one of our first dates and it was so nice
  • Knitting/Crochet (that’s on my end only)
  • Playing video games – We love playing Minecraft together, and I just started on a Paper Mario kick
  • Have friends over for a jam
  • Do yoga at home (mostly on my end, but Max actually suggested it the other day!)
  • Decluttering/Downsizing – Haha, are you surprised I wrote that one down?
  • Visit the Farmer’s Market – Browsing only; bad idea if you are an impulse buyer Free Activity
  • Public Skating – I don’t love this, but Max does
  • Colouring – This can be done at home, but also at the Moncton Public Library on Tuesday nights

And there are so many more things that I can’t even think of. We have another list of free activities, which consist of the things we did while we were doing our No Spending Challenge in Alberta. There are some good ideas over there as well, although some may not apply now that we’re back in Moncton on the East Coast.

I as well am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m stilll new to everything.
Do you have any tipos and hints for first-time boog writers?

    I’d certainly appreciate it.

    1. Thank you for your comment! That’s wonderful that you are aspiring to blog as well. I think the most important tip I would give to someone is to have confidence that what you’re writing is good content and that you’ll never move past the first step until you start hitting publish. 🙂
