Summer has arrived and Greater Moncton is celebrating with tons of awesome events and activities! We mentioned a couple of fun things going on in our June Round-Up, but today we’re focusing on the last week of June. Check out this list of 12 fun things to do in Greater Moncton this week!

Beginner Paddle Night

Head down to the Shediac Paddle Shack on Monday June 24th from 6:30pm-7:30pm to learn all about paddling! The staff will give you a 15 minute lesson on the techniques, and then you get a full 45 minutes of one-on-one time with an instructor.

Cost: $25 + tax // $10 + tax if you bring your own equipment

La Marichette

L’académie du théâtre du Capitol présente la pièce La Marichette, écrite par Nordmand Robichaud. L’histoire parle de l’écrivaine Emilie LeBlanc qui publiait des articles sous l’alias La Marichette dans le Journal Évangeline afin de pouvoir divulger ses opinions. Les prestations seront le lundi 24 juin et le mardi 25 juin à partir de 7:30pm. Cette comédie-historique est présentée en français, avec des transitions en anglais afin de permettre à tous de suivre le déroulement.

Umani Ronchi Wine Tasting

On Wednesday June 26th, Third Glass Wine Bar is hosting Umani Ronchi Wine Tasting led by Sommelier Frederica Gismondi. The evening will begin at 6pm and will feature one flight of white wines and one flight of red ones.

The Great Trees of New Brunswick Book Launch

Authors Tracy Glynn and David Palmer will be at the Greater Moncton Public Library starting at 7pm to launch their book The Great Trees of New Brunswick. Their book features chapters on all thirty-two native species and nine introduced species. Each chapter includes information on the tree’s defining features, habitat and uses, as well as photographs and a detailed description of champion trees. Rounding out the book is an introductory essay on the Acadian forest — its history, survival, and future.

Jason Allen Live in Hell

Hell’s Basement presents Jason Allen Live in Hell on June 27th. Opening acts are Halifax comedians Joseph Harfouche and Jim Temple so you know you’re in for a great night. Plus the host of the night is Bryan Otter. Doors open at 7pm; show starts at 8pm.

Painted Paddle Workshop

It’s time to get creative and try something new, like this Painted Paddle Workshop offered by Carte Blanche. On June 27th from 6pm-9pm, you can hand paint a wooden paddle using Chalk Paint™ by Annie Sloan and create a gorgeous new piece of decor for your home or cottage.

What’s included:

• Adult sized wooden paddle
• Paint, waxes, tape and all materials needed to complete your project
• Most likely, chocolate or cookies

Moncton Night Market

Greater Moncton is booming with activities and events, including the incredible Moncton Night Market that My Home Mercantile is hosting this Thursday June 27th from 5pm-9pm. Make your way down to Oak Lane, rain or shine, to browse through a large variety of local vendors. There will also be live entertainment throughout the night.

Cost: Free to enter. All products offered by vendors will vary in price.

Grande Moncton est rempli d’évènements et d’activités cette semaine, y inclut le super Marché en soirée de Moncton présenté par My Home Mercantile. Cette soirée mettra en vedette pleins de créateur de Moncton et ses alentours. Venez découvrir pleins de nouveautés à Oak Lane le jeudi 27 juin de 17h-21h. Il y a aura aussi de la musique en direct pour vous divertir pendant la soirée.

Ride The Tide

On Friday June 28th, you can join Greater Moncton’s bike-lovers at La Bikery for Ride The Tide – a tour of Moncton’s Waterfront Trail. A guide will lead you along the path from La Bikery over to the Chocolate River Station, where everyone can enjoy beer and snacks from Buddha Bear, before ending the evening with the return trip to La Bikery. The event takes place from 6:30pm-8:30pm.

Cost: $35.50 + tax including bike rental // $30.19 + tax if you BYOB (bring your own bike)

Vous pouvez rejoindre tous ceux et celles qui sont passionnées du vélo ce vendredi 28 juin à La Bakery pour Ride The Tide – une tournée du sentier riverain à Moncton. Un guide vous mènera au long du chemin de La Bikery jusqu’à la station de la Rivière Chocolat, où vous allez apprécier une bière et des collations de Buddha Bear, avant de finir la soirée avec un voyage de retour à La Bikery. Le tout se déroule entre 18h30 et 20h30.

Lancement du livre À la recherche de Sarah Sparks

Les Éditions Julie Normandin présentent le lancement du livre À la recherche de Sarah Sparks le vendredi 28 juin de 16h30 jusqu’à 20h30. Le tout se déroulera au St James Gate où les invités peuvent rencontrer l’auteur Sophie Power et profitez de l’achat du livre et d’un breuvage (inclut dans le prix d’entrée). Il y aura aussi des prix à gagner, d’une valeur total de 2000$!

Soirée Jazz au Aberdeen

Le Centre culturel Aberdeen présente une soirée jazz mettant en vedette de nouveaux groupes jazz moderne et neo-soul tels que le Duo Bourgeois et le Trio Matt Babin ce samedi 29 juin. Les portes ouvriront à 19h30, et les billets seront vendus à la porte. Venez passer une soirée amusante en appuyant les artiste locaux et la cause environnemental. Les profits seront reversés à Symbiose et à Arbres Canada.

Doc MacLean Live at Timber Lounge

Looking for some night-time activities and events in Greater Moncton? This one might be for you! Get your butt to Timber Lounge this Saturday June 29th to throw some axes, drink some beer, and enjoy great live music by Doc MacLean.

About Doc MacLean:

Son of a civil rights lawyer and a fiddle player, MacLean was playing harmonica and washboard in coffeehouses and festivals by his early teens. “Who I am, what I do and what I carry was gifted to me by the grandchildren of slaves,” says MacLean. “I’m a small link in a big, unbroken chain.” Appearing most often as a solo performer, Doc likes to say that he “tells songs and sings stories.” Over the years his storytelling has become a popular part of his show.

Cost: $8 cover charge // axe throwing and beer at extra cost

Hoola House Party at Pink Flamingos

If you’re looking to have some more evening fun, make your way to Pink Flamingos on Saturday June 29th for a Hoola House Party featuring Sonny D & Leiya! Sisters in Hoops will be performing, and there will be hoola hoops available for everyone to shake their money makers! Money raised will go towards funding Parc Electronique events this summer.

Cost: $10
