Tiny House Inspiration // How To Find Inspiration

It’s not always easy to find inspiration – for whatever reason it may be. In regards to Tiny Houses, we feel that it’s important to keep inspiration and creativity at the forefront of our minds every step of the day, especially because they need to be unique and practical in all aspects of the build and design. So we decided to do a bit of research and come up with a few ways on how to find inspiration.

Pinterest

Pinterest is our new found love. As great as Google is, it’s just not as practical in terms of finding inspiration as Pinterest is. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the website/app, Pinterest is a search engine that features pictures and is searchable both by typing in the search bar, as well as by category. What pops up for each search is lots of photos, often featuring the title in the photo, and you can then click on the photos to reach individual links. These external links can then be saved on the Pinterest website/app on “boards.” You can create boards for lots of different categories, such as Tiny House Interiors, Tiny House Builds, Home Decor, Minimalism, etc. You can create as many boards as you want, and then all your links can be saved for you to check later or share with others. You can even create your own pins by uploading a link and a photo to associate with it.

We have a few boards on Pinterest dedicated solely to Tiny Houses, and we’ve found it to be incredibly helpful in terms of inspiration and creativity. We’re gathering lots of great ideas from other people who have built or bought Tiny Homes, and even from people who just like to share what other Tiny Houses look like. It’s really a great tool to have and to go back to as we continue through our Tiny Adventure.

YouTube

Max’s biggest inspiration are YouTubers. He’s a very visual person who loves to check out the latest and greatest videos, especially when it comes to Tiny Houses. We’ve been starting to grow our watch list and it’s really helping to give us new ideas and inspiration to do this project on our own, and know that we are fully capable of creating something amazing together.
If you haven’t already done so, you need to check out some of our personal favourites:

Instagram

You wouldn’t think of it, but you can find amazing photos on Instagram that just grab your attention, that just spark new ideas! It’s definitely one of the most popular apps being used right now and we’ve hoped on board.

You can search for specific keywords on Instagram, or you can go ahead and follow different people to see all the great stuff they publish from day to day. Here are a few our our faves on Insta:
