MEAL PLANNING

Weekly Meal Plan – January 14th-20th

This week’s meal plan is slightly altered from what we had originally written down on our Monthly Schedule. The reason being is that we had so much rice left over that we had that for supper two nights in a row, and another night I was PMSing real bad so I made a frozen pizza. There you have it.

Meals:

  • Veggie Burgers & Salads
  • Pad Thai
  • Buddha Bowl
  • Spaghetti
  • Frozen Soup & Sandwiches
  • Lo Mein
  • Pasta with Homemade Alfredo Sauce

As mentioned in the previous Weekly Meal Plan post, I would usually check all the flyers and compare prices/look for sales, but given that we still have lots of money on our gift cards (received for Christmas – thank you Fam!) and we still have $50 worth of free groceries with PC Points, I won’t bother doing any of that work this week.

First things first, we have to make our list of ingredients for our 7 meals.

Ingredients:

  • Flaxseed (Almost out)
  • Black Beans
  • Carrots (2)
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Rolled Oats
  • Bread Crumbs
  • Olive Oil
  • Soya Sauce/Tamari
  • Chili Powder
  • Oregano
  • Cumin
  • Hamburger Buns (in the freezer – although sometimes we just use bread)
  • Instant Noodles
  • Shrimp
  • Eggs (3 or 4)
  • Red Pepper
  • Peanuts
  • Peanut Butter
  • Green Onion
  • Fish Sauce
  • Rice Vinegar
  • Chili Sauce
  • Butternut Squash
  • Avocado
  • Mushrooms
  • Spinach
  • Spaghetti
  • Tomato Soup
  • Soup from Freezer* (Pre-made last week before the snow storm)
  • Bread
  • Miracle Whip
  • Sesame Oil
  • Ground Ginger
  • Sriracha
  • Cream Cheese
  • Parmesan
  • Honey
  • Milk

If you haven’t been following our Weekly Meal Plan posts, I’ll just mention that all the items that are marked in bold are what we need to purchase.

Grocery:

  • Onions (totally forgot to buy these last week – oops!)
  • Red Pepper
  • Avocado
  • Mushrooms
  • Spinach

That’s a pretty great grocery list if you ask me! We still have quite a few snacks so I probably won’t add anything on there unless we ran out of something and I wasn’t aware. Usually I would only go to Superstore for these items – or the local market if we didn’t have the gift cards – but I’ll actually make an exception this week and go to Costco for Mushrooms and Spinach because it will save us more money in the end – Costco offers Spinach at half the price Superstore does! So in total, this grocery should cost us less than $20 again this week.
