Things To Do When You’re Sick

I know people automatically think rest, drink lots of fluids, etc, etc. But today I want to talk about things you can still accomplish when you’re sick (depending on what kind of sickness you have, of course).

It won’t be the same for everyone, and it won’t be the same every time you’re sick, but a lot of the time, I find myself unable to do physical activities. Therefor, I have to find a way to keep myself busy during the day so that I don’t go crazy. Seriously, I can only watch Netflix for so long.

Read

Despite giving myself a reading list for 2018, I’ve been putting off reading for a little while now. Being sick seems like the perfect excuse to finally pick up some of the books I got from the library. It doesn’t just have to be books though, you could read some blog posts online, read some of your favourite magazines, anything at all!

Update Your Calendar

This is something I’ve been meaning to do for over two weeks now. My planner is in major need of some updates and I really want to start setting some goals for myself. After I’m done being sick, of course. You could even take a look at meals you want to start making in the coming weeks and make notes in your calendar or scheduler.

Clean Out Your Inbox

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, then I’m sure you know I’ve been working on digital decluttering. That not only means deleting old files, going through my photos, videos, and everything on my external hard drive. It always means going through my massive inbox and deleting anything and everything that is no longer relevant or necessary for me to save. It’s a pretty easy task to do and make take some time, but it won’t take very much energy.

Learn Something New

I’ve been on a kick lately – I’m in love with podcasts. I love listening to them (when I don’t have a headache) but haven’t been making the time. I try to pick podcasts where I can learn something new. I was so glad when a good friend of mine sent me an episode entitled The Zero Waste Guide to a Simple Life featuring Lauren Singer. You could even try to learn something like a new instrument!

And of course let’s not forget taking a nice bath and if possible, getting a little bit of fresh air.

What kind of stuff do you do when you’re sick? I would love some other ideas, I’m pretty sure this cold is going to get worse before it gets better. 🙁

  1. Ah! The setting goals is genius! Such a great way to take your downtime and create for yourself when you are feeling crappy! Great idea!

    1. Thank you! It’s always easier said than done, but I’ve been writing a few notes about goals I want to set so hopefully they can begin to take shape once I’m better. ^_^
